America’s Got Talent: Watch the singer show her “true colors” that make Sofia Vergara want to cry again

Spoilers ahead for the July 12 episode. America has talent Auditions of the season 17.

America has talent returned to showcase talented artists from around the world after taking a week off to see Judge again Simon Cowell(which included a tribute to the lamented nocturnal bird), and it was the first episode of an audition with no gold buzzers to hand out. However, there were many contestants whose performances were worth confetti from the ceiling, and a singer’s interpretation of Cyndi Lauper’s “True Colors” was thrilling. Sofia Vergara to tears … but not the wrong kind, and she’s ready to cry for him again!

Southern gospel singer and vocal coach Well wait I can AG of Nashville, Tennessee, with his wife, mother, and grandmother encouraging him. The 32-year-old actor has already received applause when he announced that he will perform in ‘True Colors’, and even more when he explained that he chose the song because it conveyed a “message of hope”. He started singing and Judge Sofía Vergara was immediately moved. To take a look at:

Simon Cowell and Heidi Klum he also seemed quite emotionally affected (e Howie Mandel was absent this week), but Sofia Vergara was the only one to cry openly over the jury, and was the first to rise to a standing ovation after singing the last note.

When the cheers finally died down, Heidi Klum even mentioned that “Sofia is crying” and Simon Cowell commented that “Sofia is not crying”, so being moved to tears by Ben Waites was a big deal. Vergara praised him for making him the iconic song for the performance, and it’s no surprise that he got a yes from all three judges. Vergara had one last brilliant comment for him, saying:

Can’t wait to cry again! Yup!

Personal note: If you’re going to make a judge cry by attending a talent show, make sure it’s in a way that makes him want to cry again! This isn’t the first time Vergara cries in season 17, but she also noticed after saxophonist Avery Dixon won the first golden bell that she “never cries”. She’s definitely supporting without crying, as fans especially saw with teenage dancer Max Ostler.

The praise didn’t stop even after Ben Waites left AG furniture. Sofia Vergara took Twitter to share the video and said it was one of her “favorite auditions”, and she had a message of her own for her:

Season 17 was particularly tough for singers, to the point that Heidi Klum even changed her mind about who she wanted to give away her gold ring after a song by a young woman left her speechless. In fact, Vergara was the only Terry Crews judge and host who didn’t ring the bell for a musician, but sent a dance company. Mayya directly to live broadcasts. (I actually ranked Mayyas as the most likely of the five golden bells to win season 17, but it’s still a game for anyone right now!)

Find out if Ben Waites has what it takes to continue wowing the judges when he returns after the auditions are over. For now, you can expect new episodes of America has talent Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on NBC in the 2022 TV schedule.
