Fluminense’s Thiago Silva on the comeback: ‘We stopped playing’

The defender spoke about the Tricolore’s defeat against Juventude; The team conceded two goals in two minutes in the second half

Fluminense captain Thiago Silva spoke after the team’s 2-1 defeat against Juventude this Sunday (15) at the Alfredo Jaconi. The home team turned the tables with two goals in two minutes in the second half. Therefore, the defender warned that the team must have personality in these moments.

“We were heading towards a good result based on the score in the first half. After the goal we stopped playing. We accepted the pressure. We need to have a little more personality at this point to decide the match. It’s difficult to talk at this moment, with a hot head and without sacrifices, it’s difficult. Everything we’ve done so far has been done with great effort. Today that effort leaves much to be desired. Since 2005, Fluminense has won twice and I haven’t won here. I said what it meant. We couldn’t sustain that result,” said Thiago Silva.

Fluminense opened the scoring in the first half with Jhon Arias. Juventude, in turn, scored in the 35th and 37th minute of the second half with Ronaldo and Marcelinho respectively, that is, they won the match with two goals in two minutes.

With this result, Tricolor remains in 16th place with 27 points, just two from Vitória, the first team in the relegation zone. The next league match for the Rio team, therefore, is the classic against the league leaders Botafogo, on Saturday (21), at the Maracanã, at 18:30. However, on Wednesday (18), at 19:00, they will host Atlético Mineiro in the quarter-finals of the Libertadores, again at the Maracanã.
