There’s no denying how big of a shock it was for Jojo Toddynho to finally embrace her political ideology. Surrounded by mistrust for many years, the funk singer seemed to be putting off the inevitable as long as possible for her own reasons: business partnerships and, yes, pink money.
As soon as she became famous, Jojo decided to lean on Anitta’s audience and invest in the LGBT community, with a song in defense of diversity. Now, by siding with the spectrum that tries to deny fundamental rights to this part of the population, the singer shows that her defense was never genuine. Now it seems more like a plan seeking commitment and money invested by the community.
When she left “A Fazenda”, Jojo reached a level that many famous people could not reach. She made partnerships with big brands and was invited to fashion shows abroad. The fascination with the far right’s proposal to launch a possible candidacy for her, however, threw away everything she had achieved. It is possible that the financial loss exists, but nothing will be as great as the symbolic loss.
Jojo has disappointed a considerable portion of his fans. The truth is that he has not built anything significant for them, only out of his own pocket. Fearlessly allying himself with those who abhor and execrate the public that gave you a name and a career has become a moral issue, more than a financial one. Deleting a clip is easy, but the past and decisions, not so much. So there is no point in going back to crying.
