Like most movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, “Thor – Love and Thunder” hides a second bonus scene at the end of the credits. what’s next – SPOILER ALERT!!!
Warning – The following article contains spoilers as it discusses one of the twists and turns of “Thor – Love and Thunder” and the content of its first post-credits scene. So please go ahead if you haven’t seen a Taika Waititi movie yet.
It’s already a tradition ingrained in the minds of the vast majority of viewers: you should always stay in the Marvel Cinematic Universe until the end of a movie. Because each opus hides a second bonus scene at the end of the credits. Sometimes it’s a tease (like in Spider-Man Homecoming or Doctor Strange 2) or a hint about a one-track sequel or one of the upcoming MCU movies.
At first glance, the second post-credits scene of Thor – Love and Thunder is neither. There we find Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), well and truly dead after her battle with Gore (Christian Bale). But his bravery allowed him to enter Valhalla, the place where brave dead warriors are buried in Norse mythology.
As Sif (Jaimie Alexander) almost learns the hard way, only those who die in battle can access it. So it’s about Jane, but also about Heimdall (Idris Elba), who died after trying to resist Thanos (Josh Brolin) in Avengers Infinity War, and who she finds. Also dressed in gray overalls, he is the one who greets her in Valhalla.
Will Jane and Thor meet again?
Everything leads us to believe that this is only the last point, a little more happy, to the narrative arc of Jane, back in the saga and decorated with the same powers as Thor, despite the cancer that afflicts him. And that’s really what one might think. “We knew from the start that people loved the character and seeing Natalie hammered.”Taika Waititi answers when we ask him about it. “She’s a very dynamic and powerful force in the film.”
“We don’t know yet because it’s too early to say if Jane will be back. But I like the idea of the character not being gone forever.” Therefore, the way not to close all the doors. But isn’t there something else behind it? A sign of the future for the character played by Chris Hemsworth?
After their breakup, after refusing to rejoin Natalie Portman, Marvel Studios managed to reunite Thor and Jane… only to break up again. Perhaps because the actor’s return was due only for the film. But who tells us that the heroes will not meet again?
Even if he has expressed his desire for a sequel, the question of Chris Hemsworth’s latest opus will surely come up again in the future. And Valhalla, where Jane awaits him (as does Odin, her father), has everything to make the perfect destination to offer a happy ending. Unless he defies divine prohibitions to seek her out and bring her back to the living world, which is another possibility.
Regardless of the cardboard “Thor Returns” Following this scene, the character has not been officially announced for any project, even if it risks moving to Comic Con and/or D23, where we can expect announcements.
