The coach praises the production in the 2-2 with Bragantino and underlines that the priority is the place for the Libertadores 2025
Inter builds enough to win, but draws 2-2 with Bragantino and remains out of the G-6 of the Brasileirão. Nonetheless, coach Roger Machado is enthusiastic and believes that the recovery shows that they have what it takes to fight again for the title of the national competition.
“The goal is to qualify for the Libertadores, but the hope of the title is alive, otherwise it takes away the spirit of the players and the fans. We will fight for great things. We must position ourselves in front so that the opponents see us. We are close, with one game less,” he said.
“Optimism is valid. The fans are only hopeful because what they see on the pitch allows them to dream, but we need to know what brought us here. Mathematically it is possible, but the percentage is small. We are fighting to climb the standings because it keeps the possibility of first place alive”, he added.
The coach, in fact, praised Colorado’s production. He considered that the fifth consecutive victory was not due to the performance of Cleiton, who saved six times, according to Roger.
“Cleiton (the opposing goalkeeper) must have made six difficult saves. There is no point in looking for reasons why he didn’t win in a match where the opposing goalkeeper is probably the better player,” the coach summed up.
In Praise of Valencia
Roger Machado also praised Enner Valencia, who ended their drought in the Brazilian championship.
“Along with the point we took, Valencia scored again. The guideline was not just to stay still, but to participate in the game. Participate like Borré. It’s the highlight. His happiness belongs to everyone. Everyone was happy, without knowing if he took the ball into the net or hugged it,” he added.
Asked if Borré and Valencia could play together, Roger Machado replied that “everything is possible”, but that everything “will depend on the circumstances of the match”.
Now, on Sunday, Roger Machado’s team will face Vitória to try to get another positive result. The match will take place at 18:30 at Barradão.
