Today, Norman Reedus’ face is known to almost everyone, especially to fans of The Walking Dead. The American actor is also one of the rare performers in the series, having appeared in all eleven seasons of the main program, and then in its own spin-off Daryl Dixon.
Norman Reedus achieved success relatively late. Before starring in The Walking Dead, the latter appeared in about twenty feature films, most notably Boston Angels (1999) – a cult thriller across the Atlantic, but little known to the French.
He became an actor by accident
At first, Norman Reedus did not intend to pursue an acting career. The latter was discovered during a party when he was leading the life of a traveling artist. After trying his hand at theater, in 1997 he got the main role in the feature film Floating Cinema for his first experience as an actor.
In this independent film by William Roth, Norman Reedus plays Van, a young man with financial and family difficulties. Abandoned by his mother, the latter is solely responsible for the care of his severely disabled father. A situation that does not allow him to deal with personal problems…
Also in Guillermo del Toro’s first American film!
Floating enjoyed a cryptic release in the US, but Norman Reedus appeared in the credits of a much more memorable film that same year. The American actor was actually in Mimic, the first American film for Guillermo del Toro, who cast him again a few years later in Blade 2.
At that time, no one could have imagined that Norman Reedus would one day become one of the highest-paid actors on American television. And he actually had to wait about fifteen years for his role on The Walking Dead (originally only supposed to last for a few episodes) to be known to the general public.
Therefore, a late success, but which now does not leave Norman Reedus, the iconic actor. A sign of its popularity? His series Daryl Dixon has been renewed for a third season, even before Season 2 airs!
Season 2 of Daryl Dixon with Norman Reedus can be seen starting September 30 exclusively on Paramount+, also available with a Canal+ subscription.
