‘Deceptive Editing’: The Man At The Center Of This Very Angry Documentary Against Netflix… Wrong!

Much anticipated by wrestling fans, a new Netflix documentary titled Mr. McMahon was released on the platform this Wednesday, September 25th. Its six episodes chronicle the career of former WWE boss Vincent McMahon, as well as the scandals that marred his reputation, most notably the sexual assault allegations that led to his departure from the company in 2022.

Many sports and entertainment personalities agreed to participate in the documentary, including wrestling legends such as Dwayne Johnson, John Cena and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. Vincent McMahon was also interviewed by Netflix to comment on camera about his journey.

Vincent McMahon replied

The 79-year-old businessman announced this in an official statement “I have no regrets” His participation in the Netflix project. However, the latter accused the platform of using images taken out of context “Distorting viewers’ perceptions and supporting a misleading narrative.”

According to him, the documentary will paint a portrait of the character he played in the wrestling ring – an authoritarian, demonic and cruel billionaire – rather than the person he is in person. “Many are distorted or omitted altogether in an attempt to confuse the viewer.” He regretted it in a press release on social media.

He tried to prevent the release of the documentary

However, in this documentary, Vincent McMahon is overwhelmed by many testimonies from close associates. The lawyer for Janet Grant, the former employee who accuses him of physical and emotional abuse, responded to the latter’s press release and confirmed that her client “McMahon wouldn’t shut up anymore.”

According to several InsidersVincent McMahon tried – in vain – to buy the rights to the series from Netflix to prevent it from airing. Keep in mind that the documentary is being released a few weeks before the WWE catalog arrives on the platform as part of a partnership signed after the businessman’s retirement.

Six episodes of the documentary Mr. McMahon can be seen exclusively on Netflix.
