Where was the ideal father filmed?
To bring the story to life, but above all, to create a favorable environment for the face-to-face on which the film is based, director Alain Fillier set up his cameras in Hauggon, a picturesque little village located in the Orne department of the Normandy region. . A town of barely 250 inhabitants, who immediately appealed to the director.
“I have been looking for the right decor for a long time. I was visiting a very good friend who lives here in Haigon, and when I saw this cafe called ‘The Fox Marre’ I fell completely under its spell.“- he told our colleagues France 3 Normandy.
bar “The fox laughs” really exists
For the needs of the film, the producers rehabilitated this bar under the name “Laughing Fox”. They also created an apartment upstairs for Laurent Guerra’s character to live in.
“We rebuilt the cafe when we got it in September. It was abandoned, so everything had to be put back in place to give the illusion that the cafe was open.Film producer Mathieu Taro said on this topic.
The Laughing Fox was actually closed for three years before a film crew brought it back to life. Thanks to this rehabilitation, the village of Haugon has regained its happy place, and the initiative has even attracted the attention of a potential buyer.
