How to justify voting via cell phone on Election Day

e-Título is the official application of the Electoral Tribunal, which allows you to justify your vote quickly and securely. Here’s what you need to do:

Download the e-Título by Saturday 5 October: the application will only be downloadable until the day before the elections. It is therefore essential to download the app by Saturday. Those who have already installed the app will be able to use it normally on Sunday.

Justification on election day

On Sunday 6 October, from 8am to 5pm, anyone who is outside the electoral home will be able to justify their absence using the e-Título. The app will use your mobile phone location to confirm that you are outside your voting city. In this case it is not necessary to attach documents.

Justification after the elections

If you cannot justify it on election day, it will still be possible to regularize your situation within 60 days of the election. At this stage, in addition to using the e-Título, you can also access the Justifica System on the website of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE). You will need to attach documents proving the reason for the absence, such as a medical certificate or work justification.

Justify your vote with the Justify system

In addition to the application, you can justify your absence through the Justifica System, available on the Electoral Tribunal portals. The process is simple: log in to the system, enter your personal details, explain the reason for your absence and send the requested documentation. Next, you will receive a protocol to monitor the status of your justification.

What happens if you don’t justify your vote?

Anyone who does not justify their absence within the 60-day period will have to pay a fine, which can range from R$3.51 to R$35.10 per election round. This fine can be paid directly via the e-Título application. Failure to pay the fine may result in sanctions such as the inability to obtain a passport, participate in public exams or renew enrollment in public universities.

Furthermore, voters who accumulate three consecutive absences without justification or payment of fines will have their voter IDs cancelled, which could lead to other complications, such as restrictions on holding public office and other activities that require electoral regularity.
