Not sure what to watch after Monsters and Dahmer? We have the answer!

Three weeks after its release on Netflix, the monster series is still number one in the top viewership charts. Ryan Murphy’s latest collaboration, which deals with the Menendez case, is generating a lot of buzz. To the point that the showrunner reacts. If the latter had to justify himself in front of the family of the victims and the accused, the screenwriter really has no criticism. Because he has other fish to fry.

Ryan Murphy is indeed one of the most prolific showrunners in Hollywood, where he has been working for nearly 25 years. It all started with Nip/Tuck, an instant success. Then with Glee, his most damning work to date. At the age of 58, the man managed to straighten the pencils and develop the world.

We Owe Him Dahmer and Menendez: What are the best Ryan Murphy series on Netflix according to subscribers?

The king of the small screen…

And speaking of universes, he and his longtime teammates (Ian Brennan and Brad Falchuk) became the kings of anthologies and spin-offs. In 2011, Murphy launched the prolific American Horror Story, which evolved into American Crime Story, then American Sports Story, as well as American Love Story (forthcoming).

On the Set of The Prom (Netflix)

In A Little American Window, Murphy tries all styles: procedural series like 9-1-1 or more confidential but decidedly queer productions that he has a secret about, like Pose. But isn’t the showrunner doing a little too much with his projects? This is the question asked by Variety:

“Murphy will release 6 series this fall, on four different platforms and under two different deals”. we can read in the article.

In addition to Netflix’s hit Monsters, the broadcast of 911 and its spin-off, which will be renewed, viewers were able to discover his latest, an American sports story about former NFL player and convicted murderer Aaron Hernandez (available soon on Disney + on).

On October 24, Disney+ subscribers will be able to stream Doctor Odyssey, a medical drama starring Joshua Jackson set on a luxury cruise ship. But also Grotesquerie (date yet to be announced), a horror series that Murphy is particularly fond of.

…but at what cost?

When Ryan Murphy signed a five-year exclusive deal with Netflix in 2018 (before moving to Disney+), the showrunner had the opportunity to offer a variety of works: he offered the cheeky The Politician (the closest thing to Glee), to innovative Hollywood. Or the very confidential Halston, about a fashion designer. Titles that didn’t have the audience success they deserved.

In the end, the showrunner stuck to what he knew how to do: horror, serial killers, and procedural shows that didn’t really stand out from the crowd. And this is normal, because it cannot be everywhere at the same time. For example, in Season 2 of Monsters, Murphy ended up writing fewer episodes than his collaborator, Ian Brennan. while being in as much light as possible.

Especially since he is not going to stop here and is already working on his next projects, namely The Beauty with Evan Peters (which he reunites with after Dahmer), All’s Fair with Sarah Paulson (Ratched) and Mid-Century Modern with Matt Bomer . .

Ryan Murphy’s series can be found on Disney+ and Netflix.
