Platform on Netflix: A third film is coming for this successful saga?

Warning, spoilers. The following paragraphs show plot elements from the movie “Platform 2”.

One of the most-watched non-English-language films of all time on Netflix, four years after the massive success of the platform, the streaming service has released a new feature film set in the same universe.

Titled The Platform 2, this dystopian thriller follows the journey of new inmates, including Perempuan (Milena Smith) and Zamyatin (Hovik Keuchkerian), who try to survive in a notorious tower prison called “The Pit.”

In this tower prison, food trays run from floor to floor, a system that favors the first comers and starves the last. But other inmates are also a hindrance to consider.

The law regulates the life of the prisoners, namely that before entering the prison they must eat only the food they have requested during the interview, under penalty of reprisal.

This rule, more or less respected, was established for the common good, so that each prisoner could eat. Some choose to follow the movement that we feel led by leaders or guides, while others choose to selfishly survive.

Is there a third “Platform” movie planned?

People who have seen La Plateforme 2 will understand the twist of this feature film as it is not a sequel but a prequel! The events of The Platform 2 take place before The Platform.

Perempuan ties up with the hero of the first film, Goreng (Yvan Massague), and they meet again at the end of Platform 2, which is a sequel to The End of Platform. The two films complement each other, and thanks to La Plateforme 2, many questions are answered, but they also raise other questions.

A rather open ending could leave the possibility of a third film. So is “Platform 3” possible? Yes, according to director Galder Gaztelu-Urutia! “It depends on how this movie is received”– he told us in the interview, “It’s not up to us, but if there’s interest, if people want it, we’re ready to go ahead.”

He explained that he and the writers already had ideas for this third film and that he could give viewers a lot of key answers:

“We have ideas and are ready to move forward to clarify who, when and for what purpose this platform was created, and of course we would do this with the public, sharing the social debate with them.” It depends on the audience.”

So everything depends on the viewers, but of course also on Netflix, which released La Plateforme 2. If the audience will be there, as for the first film, which has been watched more than 130 million hours to date, the streaming service will be able to give it. Greenlight for third feature film.
