In 1973, the thriller Jackal was released on the screens, among the classics, which is part of the great line of paranoid thrillers of the 70s, later, Bruce Willis – the hero of all America with the Clair de Lune series, and then the Die Hard saga. He surprised everyone by participating in its remake. In Michael Caton-Jones’ Jackal, he plays an assassin, a ruthless assassin hired to assassinate one of the most important political figures in the United States.
Now Eddie Redmayne is going to replace him. The British actor – the Oscar for the best actor for the role of the physicist Stephen Hawkins – plays this lonely and inaccessible killer in the next series from the English sky and the American Peacock, The Day of the Jackal, which we discover in the trailer above.
A series that makes you
The series deals with what is nicknamed “The Jackal”, the Chameleon Killer “Those who make a living wage at the highest price of contracts“, as the series synopsis indicates. But after his latest murder, he meets a determined British intelligence officer who starts tracking him in a thrilling cat-and-mouse race across Europe, wreaking havoc.“
The trailer shows Eddie Redmayne literally transforming himself, donning several disguises, shooting his targets from rooftops and destroying buildings. He’s also proud of his stalker, Bianca, an intelligence officer played by Lashana Lynch – known, among others, for being the first woman to play Agent 007 in No Time To Die.
The rest of the cast is equally attractive. Ursula Corbero – revealed by La Casa de Papel – continues to expand her career internationally after the success of Flight on Netflix, and here she plays the girlfriend of a jackal who clearly knows nothing about her professional activities. Finally, the very stylish Charles Dance – the unforgettable Tywin Lannister from Game of Thrones – should continue the tradition by playing the villain once again.
The Jackal Day, which will be broadcast in the UK and US next month, does not yet have a broadcaster in France.
