It was the starting pitch for I’m Not an Easy Man, a romantic comedy released in 2018 on Netflix, which gave the French branch a chance to launch into the cinema market. If no one today remembers this production by Vincent Elbaz and Marie Sophie Ferdan, the American platform has just announced the upcoming release of the remake.

While the idea is promising on paper and these two talents have nothing to prove, the final outcome remains to be seen. In the French version, which was not at all convincing, subscribers especially regretted the avalanche of clichés, the caricature taken to the extreme without any thought, and also the lack of humor.
Note that this is not the first time that Netflix has enjoyed producing remakes of French films. That’s what happened recently in the Spanish romantic comedy L’amour au pied du mur, inspired by Little, Many, Blind with Clovis Kornilak and Melanie Bernier.
