The Sirens fail to make two shots in the decisive series and lose 4-2 after equalizing in regulation time; Boca faces Corinthians for a place in the decider
Santos struggled, but saw off the women’s Libertadores in the quarterfinals. On Saturday evening (12), the Brazilians lost 4-2 against Boca Juniors on penalties after a goalless draw in regulation time. The match took place at the Arsenio Enrico Stadium, in Asunción, Paraguay. In the semi-final the Argentines will face Corinthians, fighting for their fifth title in the continental tournament.
Boca Juniors tested the game more, having greater volume over the course of the 90 minutes. The best chances came from Boca Juniors, even though Santos controlled possession. However, the Juventus team was unable to create good plays.
At the end of the match, goalkeeper Karen Hipólito made a great save. Furthermore, in the 46th minute, Kishi Núñez took out two defenders and shot well. The ball covered Karen and hit the Santos crossbar. The dispute then turned to sanctions.
Boca 4-2 on penalties
Karla Alves and Yamila Rodríguez scored for Sereias da Vila, but Day Silva hit the crossbar and Ana Carla stopped goalkeeper Oliveros. As for Boca Juniors, Sasaki, Eugenia Flores, Kishi Núñez and Julieta Cruz scored. Masagli, the first to charge for the Argentines, is the only one to waste.
