Tucano declared his vote for the PSOL candidate after ruling out any support for Boulos and Nunes in the second round; The journalist took a different path from his party, which declared support for the emedebist
After excluding support for one of the candidates in the second round of the São Paulo elections, the presenter Jose Luiz Datenafifth in the electoral race with 1.84% of the votes, declared his vote in favor of the candidate Guilherme Boulos (PSOL) Saturday evening, 12. Boulos faces the current mayor and candidate for re-election in the second round, Ricardo Nunes (MDB), which, in turn, has official support from Brazilian Social Democratic Party (PSDB)the party for which Datena contested the elections.
“Against the infiltration of organized crime in São Paulo, against the infiltration of organized crime in public power, I support Boulos. I vote Boulos to stop this crime which makes the city of São Paulo, which makes the State of São Paulo, which makes it makes the country hostage to drug trafficking. We want it, that’s why I support Boulos for the second round in Sao Paulo. Vote with him, vote against crime”, said Datena.
The journalist, who classified his performance at the polls as “terrible” and “horrible” and said he did not want to “experiment with new political positions”, had previously had no support for either Nunes or Boulos in the second round. “With the amount of votes I have, I don’t know if it would make much of a difference,” he said.
Now Datena sides with the federal deputy Tabata Amaral (PSB), who declared his vote for the PSOL candidate on Sunday evening. Tabata said he “cannot and will never vote for a project led by Ricardo Nunes.”
“This is a vote of conviction. It is not a negotiated vote. I will not stand on any platform. I will not undo who I am and what I believe. You will not see me join any government. Regardless of which government is elected,” Tabata said .
Despite Datena’s individual statements, the PSDB made its support for Nunes official on Sunday, shortly after the first round results. The mayor of Ribeirao Preto and the president of the PSDB-Citizens’ Federation of São Paulo, Duarte Nogueira, released a note declaring that Nunes “has distinguished himself as a dedicated manager, with a solid vision for the development of the city of São Paulo”.
For him, the re-election candidate’s results in polls and debates demonstrate “that he is the best candidate to govern the city of São Paulo. A clear reflection of the recognition of his work by the population of São Paulo”.
Early polls released last week show a notable lead for Nunes over Boulos. The measurement of Paraná Pesquisas indicates the current mayor with 52.8% of the total votes against 39% of the opponent. According to the measurement, another 4.8% would vote blank or not, while 3.4% did not know or did not answer.
In the survey carried out by Datafolha, the candidate for re-election has an advantage of 22 percentage points. Nunes records 55% of mentions in the stimulated scenario, while Boulos appears with 33%. According to the survey, 10% of voters said they would vote blank or cancel their vote. Another 2% don’t know who to vote for.
