Boulos challenges Nunes to reveal banking secrecy; The mayor responds by saying that it “borders on the ridiculous”

The emedebista accused Boulos of “not liking to work” and the PSOL candidate provoked him to show his accounts, so that he could demonstrate “that he is clean”

Guilherme Boulos (PSOL) launched a challenge to Ricardo Nunes (MDB) at the beginning of the first debate of the second round of the elections for the City of São Paulo, promoted by Band, on the night of this Monday 14. The psolist said that he would opened his secret bank, claiming to have a “clean financial life” and wondered if the current mayor would also have the courage to do the same.

During this clash, Boulos pressured Nunes to comment on his alleged involvement in the capital’s nursery school. Nunes denied it, as he did during more than 10 first-round debates, and said that every service he rendered during his career as a businessman and politician was correct.

“My life is clean,” Nunes said, pointing to Boulos as a person “without morals” to accuse him. “You just don’t really know what it means to work,” said the current mayor, in a speech that follows the line of former candidate Pablo Marçal (PRTB), who also clashed with Boulos, insinuating that he has no never worked. Boulos is a teacher.

Because of this push, Boulos emphasized that he is a professor and federal deputy with a clean financial life. And he launched the challenge: «Since you talk and raise work issues, and say that everything is fine with you… now I will open the banking secrecy of my account. Open yours? I challenge you. Let the São Paulo society know if you are really as clean as you say you are?

After this speech, Boulos had 14 seconds of speech left. Nunes only had 7 seconds left and said, “Look, this is borderline ridiculous. He’s desperate. 58% refusal. You won’t get anything. You’ll lose another one.”

According to Datafolha released last Thursday, 10.58% of voters say they will not vote “at all” for Boulos. The current mayor’s rejection rate is 37%.

“His time is up, that’s the answer. Unfortunately he didn’t respond. Let’s see if he responds in the next block. If he opens the secret,” continued Boulos. At that moment Nunes dropped the paper from the pulpit and Boulos joked: “Be careful, be calm, be calm.”

The two were applauded by the audience after their placings, which concluded the first block of the broadcast.
