The actress abandons the sexy look to take on a masculine look in the biopic of boxing champion Christy Martin
After set photos leaked, actress Sydney Sweeney (“Madame Teia”) decided to post images of her radical transformation on Instagram. The actress, who became famous for playing the sexy Cassie Howard in “Euphoria”, completely changed her appearance to play the boxer Christy Martin, in a biopic directed by David Michod (“The King”). The production, which recently began in Virginia, USA, features Sweeney with dark hair and a masculine appearance. The images shared show her flexing her muscles.
In the caption, the actress confirms that she kept her look a secret, but the surprise was ruined by the paparazzi. “The secret got out thanks to some paparazzi in the bushes, so here’s a little behind-the-scenes look at the film I’m working on now. Over the past few months, I’ve immersed myself in training to bring the story of an incredible woman, a true champion who has fought battles in and out of the ring. His journey is a testament to resilience, strength and hope, and I am honored to stand in his shoes to share his powerful story with you all,” he wrote, announcing that soon will publish further information on the project.

Still without an official title, the film will tell the story of Christy Martin, nicknamed the “female Rocky Balboa”. In her winning career, which ended in 2012, she was the most prominent and successful boxer in the United States, as well as being the first boxer on the cover of Sports Illustrated and the first woman inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
In addition to her boxing career, Martin faced physical and emotional abuse from her ex-husband and agent, Jim Martine. In 2010, she was stabbed multiple times, shot in the torso and left for dead by Martine, but survived and saw him sentenced to 25 years in prison. After the separation, he came out publicly and married fellow boxer Lisa Holewyne, his former rival in the ring, with whom he shared his life for seven years.
Netflix recently released a documentary about his career, titled “Untold: Deal with the Devil.”
