Coach Fernando Diniz’s main question is whether he will be able to use goalkeeper Cássio, who is complaining of pain in his right thigh
Cruzeiro takes the field against Lanús, this Wednesday (23rd), at 7pm (Brasilia time), in the semi-finals of the Copa Sudamericano. The Raposa technical committee decided to maintain total mystery before the match.
Cruzeiro usually publishes training details, information on athletes’ recovery in the medical department and other relevant data. Since Monday (21st), however, the celestial club’s press release has not released any statement. Therefore, it is impossible to obtain previously shared information.
Among the curiosities of the fans there is also the physical condition of the goalkeeper Cássio. The goalkeeper complained of pain and apparently played a sacrifice against Bahia last Friday in the Brazilian championship.
Cássio, however, guarantees that the pain in his right thigh will not prevent him from playing.
“I don’t think it affected anything. Sure, sometimes I felt a little more pain, but it didn’t affect my movements or my agility. As a goalkeeper, when that limits your performance, then you can’t play. I have also enough experience to understand that if he gets in the way, we have Anderson and other goalkeepers who can help him,” he said.
Another doubt that will remain unresolved before the match is the situation of Lautaro Diaz. The attacker’s last match was against Fluminense, on October 3, in the Brazilian championship.
Certain misappropriations
Midfielder Lucas Romero was sent off against Libertad-PAR, in the quarter-finals of the competition, and will not take part in the match. Besides him, midfielders Matheus Henrique and Japa, forwards Dinenno and Rafa Silva and midfielder Vitinho are in the medical department and will not play.
