It looks like we’ve gone a few years between seasons of HBO’s adaptation of the saga Game of Thrones By George RR Martin. While we’ll still have to wait to see House of the Dragon season 3, it looks like we’ll be able to see a new Game of Thrones spin-off very soon.
And very soon, it will be from the spring of 2025. This is the estimated release date that the author refers to (somewhat hopefully) when talking about Knights of the Seven Kingdoms, an adventure story under the alias of Sir Duncan the Great. They called “Dunk” and his friend “Egg”.
A change in tone compared to the main saga
in his blog “Not a blog“, George RR Martin talks about his visit to the set and notes that he was able to see a rough cut of Episode 1. He also gives us a brief update on production, which wrapped last September and is currently in post-production. Led by showrunner Ira Parker.
Peter Cleff as Dunk
The author also warns you (so to speak): this series is very different from previous series like Game of Thrones or House of the Dragon. It will have a lighter tone and a less ambitious story. It also boasts a much more modest budget. Martin states that “90% of the story takes place in a field surrounded by tents“.
Release date: still unknown
George RR Martin is talking about a release next spring, but HBO has yet to announce an official date for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Warner chairman David Zaslav has hinted that the series will premiere in the spring of 2025, not the fall. The series will run for six episodes and will see Peter Clough and Dexter Sol Ansel in the roles of Dunk and Egg respectively.
