Hundreds of artistic photographs make up the pages of this book. Each of them shows the complicity, concentration and madness that surrounded the making of the film. The photos are true to the story’s chronology, and some are accompanied by unpublished filming anecdotes.

If the first part focuses on the set of the mother, the second follows the team – Anne Dorval, Suzanne Clement, Antoine-Olivier Pilon and Xavier Dolan – in the big moments of the Cannes Film Festival: interviews, climbing the stairs, the official screening, waiting for reactions, joy, anxiety or even preparing for the speech – become iconic.

Four prefaces introduce the book. Two of them are signed by the general delegate of the Cannes Film Festival, Thierry Fremaux, and Jane Campion, president of the jury, who presented the prize to Xavier Dolan. The filmmaker recounts in detail his memories of the screening and explains how and why the film captured the collective imagination.

Released in October 2014, Mommy attracted no fewer than 1,194,684 viewers in French cinemas.
