The hero’s next film, still without an official title, will once again star Tom Holland
After the success of “Spider-Man: No Way Home” (2021), which grossed $1.916 billion, Sony and Marvel will release a fourth film of the current incarnation of the hero, with Tom Holland returning to the role of Peter Parker . He also starred in “Spider-Man: Homecoming” (2017) and “Spider-Man: Far From Home” (2019), as well as appearing in “Captain America: Civil War” (2016), “Avengers: War Infinite” ( 2018) and “Avengers: Endgame” (2019).
Plot and production in collaboration with Marvel Studios
The plot of the new film is being kept under wraps, but the story is expected to follow the events of “No Way Home,” which ended with the world forgetting Peter Parker’s identity as Spider-Man, including his friends dearer. Actress Zendaya is also confirmed in the sequel, reprising her role as MJ, the hero’s romantic interest. Tom and Zendaya became a real couple while filming the franchise.
Screenwriters Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna, who wrote the blockbuster “No Way Home,” also return as writers of the new story. The direction has undergone changes, with the departure of Jon Watts after three feature films. The person responsible for directing the new feature film will be Destin Daniel Cretton, who previously directed “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” (2021) for Marvel Studios.
The release is scheduled for July 24, 2026 in the United States.
