Movie producer Steven Spielberg is seriously considering giving Gremlins to one Tim Burton. But the very young director, with only a few short films under his belt, lacks a bit of experience, and it will ultimately be Joe Dante who takes over the job.

Considered today as a beloved horror comedy, Gremlins could have had a much darker fate… In the first version of the script, Chris Columbus turned these tiny creatures into extremely violent creatures that killed a dog before beheading its mother to dispose of it. Go down the stairs and attack the customers of the fast food restaurant… but the director, in agreement with Warner, preferred to delete these few scenes in order to open it up to a wider audience and make it an entertaining family comedy.

The film reproduces the 7th art: in a movie scene, one of the gremlins wears Mickey ears, the creature repeats Flashdance choreography, we note the reference to James Bond, Star Wars II, the scene’s homage to Texas. Chainsaw Massacre… Can you find the others?
