The RS government’s campaign intensifies efforts to encourage responsible adoption
The “Too be a hero – Adopt a pet from the flood” campaign, promoted by the government of Rio Grande do Sul, enters a new phase to encourage the adoption of animals still sheltered after the May floods. In Porto Alegre and Canoas, approximately 1,600 dogs and cats remain in temporary housing, awaiting adoption.
During the peak of the floods, more than 20,000 animals were taken to shelters across the state. Coordinated by the office of Deputy Governor Gabriel Souza, the campaign aims to raise awareness among the population about responsible adoption. According to Souza, who is also a veterinarian, the government is working on multiple fronts to guarantee resources to municipalities with shelters.
The new phase of the campaign expands its social media reach, including moving testimonials on TikTok from those who have adopted rescued animals. Additionally, YouTube will feature additional video ads about the initiative. Those interested in more information can access the official website: sosenchentes.rs.gov.br/assistencia-para-animais.
