Directing a sitcom like The Big Bang Theory is no easy task, as the writers constantly have to talk about theoretical and scientific concepts that they don’t necessarily understand. For this reason, University of California physics and astronomy professor David Salzberg read the show’s scripts for the first six seasons, checking that everything was correct – and making changes to the dialogue if necessary. A collaboration that gradually developed.
The best number in the world
For example, in the first season we could see the evolution of the equation on different boards in the apartment of Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Sheldon (Jim Parsons): it was the work of Salzberg, who n they only went to the set. If it was strictly necessary or if they needed to write something on the given drawings. What the professor himself probably did not expect was that one of the jokes of the series would be a theorem and therefore something proven.
This is what fans now call Sheldon’s Theorem, which states that 73 is the only number in the world that can not only multiply its digits together to give its position among prime numbers (73 is the twenty-first prime number and 7 times 3 gives 21 ), but also if we reverse it, we also find a prime number, 37, which in turn is the 12th prime number, and 12 is 21 reversed!
As Sheldon explains in the series: “73 is the twenty-first prime number. It is the mirror of 37, but its mirror value 37 is the prime number 12, the mirror of which is nothing but the product of 7 and 3… In binary language, 73 is a palindrome, 1001001, which, in reverse, is 1001001.“

It could have remained a joke, but in 2019 scientists Carl Pomeranz and Chris Spicer were able to conclude with several operations that this is indeed the only number in the world with which this happens. And as Sheldon Cooper says, it’s the best number in the world – and it’s also the year you were born. Jim Parsons !
The Big Bang Theory can still be seen on Max or NRJ12 TV.
