Despite being the last film released, “The Predator: The Hunt” is the first in chronological order of the series.
Serving as a prequel, the film’s plot is set in 1719 and portrays the Comanche nation located in the Great Plains of North America.
The first film released in the series, “The Predator,” is set in the same year as its release, 1987. This places it as the second in chronological order.
Released in 1990, the plot of “Predator 2 – The Hunt Continues” is set in Los Angeles in 1997, ten years after the events of the previous film, “The Predator”. This places it third in the chronological order of the series.
The crossover between the “Alien” and “Predator” franchises is set in the year of its release, 2004. Therefore, “Alien vs. Predator” is the fourth in chronological order.
The direct sequel to “Alien vs. Predator” is the fifth in chronological order of the series. Its plot takes place exactly after the events of the 2004 film.
The position of “The Predator” in the chronological order of the series generates discussion. Shane Black, the director of the film, stated that the work takes place between the events of “Predator 2 – The Hunt Continues” (1990) and “Predators” (2010).
Black also pointed out that the plot takes place in a reimagined version of 2018, the year the film was released.
Released in 2010, “Predators” does not specify which year the plot takes place. Some speculate, through clues in the film, that the story is set in the early 21st century. Other fans suggest that the plot could take place in 2010, the year of release.
However, since the film does not precisely define the period in which it is set, we have chosen to consider Shane Black’s statement about “The Predator”. Therefore, “Predators” is the last in chronological order.
