Tebet says Lula is aware of the fiscal measures that are being prepared and defends a coherent package

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva knows what needs to be done in fiscal matters and what measures are being prepared, Planning and Budget Minister Simone Tebet said on Wednesday, defending the presentation of a coherent package.

In an interview with reporters, Tebet said there would be no problem voting on the measures until the first half of next year because the measures are expected to have a bigger impact in 2026.

“The president already knows, he already knows what needs to be done, he already knows more or less the values, he already knows what the measures are, we already know the ones that we cannot and that we will not change”, he said.

“Someone will vote in December, another in March, another in May. What we need is to present the country with a coherent and authorized package, which obviously gives comfort to the President of the Republic, making it clear that we will not take away all his rights.”

Arguing that many public policies are inefficient and can be removed, the minister said this will be the “first of at least two” packages of structural measures.

He added that after Lula’s approval, the government will also initiate a dialogue with Congress to facilitate the approval of the measures.
