Juror #2: Is the latest Clint Eastwood movie a good one? Here’s what the audience thinks

At the age of 94, Clint Eastwood marks the end of his career. In any case, this is what is announced in Juré n°2, presented as his final project. It’s an experimental film, in the worthy tradition of Sidney Lumet’s Twelve Angry Men, with an excellent cast led by Nicholas Hoult and Toni Collette.

The story follows Justin Kemp (Nicholas Hoult), a young father who is chosen to be a jury in the trial of a man suspected of murdering his partner on the side of the road one rainy evening. However, the hero does not sleep peacefully. A few weeks earlier, on the same road, on the same evening, a car crashed into something. What if Justin was responsible for the murder?

Jury number 2 on AlloCiné receives a press rating of 3.7 out of 5 and an audience rating of 4.1 out of 5*. An excellent average, but not above Million Dollar Baby (4.4 out of 5) and Gran Torino (4.5 out of 5), the director’s two highest-rated films. Unlike his two other works, Clint Eastwood does not play in Jury 2.

A quick look at what viewers are saying:

They liked it

According to Pierre (5 out of 5): “For the last film of Clint Eastwood’s great career, he gave us a masterpiece. It’s a bit like a modern version of the movie 12 Angry Men. Nicolat Hoult, she did a great job as the juror, a huge dilemma for her. (…) we feel brave on the rock, which leaves us wanting more.”

According to Zola Ntondo (5 out of 5): “In this film, Eastwood, the undisputed master of cinema, gives us a work that is rich, sophisticated and of surprising intensity. Nicholas Hoult, playing a complex character caught up in difficult moral choices, gives a masterful performance.

According to tdy.clmt (4.5 out of 5): “Juror #2 is a gripping thriller from the latest from Eastwood. Between guilt and responsibility, Clint Eastwood immerses us in the growing tension while exploring deep moral dilemmas.

According to Judithtexas (4 of 5):Clint Eastwood is as good as ever at tying (or unraveling) compelling intrigue. Almost everything here takes place in court, a few flashbacks are all, the actors are very talented, Toni Collette is in the lead. Management of priorities and conscience is a very good movie even if I prefer Cry Macho!

According to darmeos (4 of 5):Of course, his last work. But a quality start. Of course, there is no passion of the mystical river, Gran Torino, the black hunter with a white heart, but there is a sincerity that gives the whole aura to the film. Dirty Harry has been entertaining us for decades, and he’s one of the rare directors I’ll truly miss. I won’t name all the films because except for one or two, his entire career as a director would be fascinating..”

According to Shawn777 (3.5 out of 5): “Jury 2 is particularly well written as a whole and above all manages to keep the characters’ fates in suspense until the very end.

They didn’t like it

According to Louis Doch (2.5 out of 5): “I had high expectations for this movie, good performance, good story, but in the end it was a dud. The movie is still good but that’s it. Casting remains a big plus point of this film. Clint Eastwood’s last movie didn’t convince me, too bad.”

According to Guigui Paul (1.5 out of 5): “The last (?) Eastwood, served by the decent staging and one-shot narration of an average American TV series. The filmmaker tries to flesh out his story with functional characters and plot points that aren’t too involved and painfully diluted for nearly two hours..”

According to nico_france (1 of 5): “A very long film (so many over-extended sequences) filled with a lot of clichés, which is unimaginable for a director like him. What a disappointment.”
