Code Quantum on M6: 30 years later, will Scott Bakula (Sam Beckett) appear in the remake of the cult series?

This Saturday, November 2nd, M6 will present three new episodes of Code Quantum, a remake of the cult series of the same name that aired in France in the 90s.

A new team is formed, led by physicist Ben Song (Raymond Lee), who resumes the project in the hope of learning the secret of the functioning of the particle accelerator created in 1989 and finding its creator.

But after an unauthorized leap into the past, Ben finds himself in a time spiral, moving from life to life and era to era. His colleagues, who remain in the present, will try to understand his gesture and bring him home. They will have to act fast or risk losing it forever.

Will Scott Bakula appear in the series?

After the announcement of this reboot project in September 2021, Quantum Code fans were hoping that Scott Bakula, who played Sam Beckett, would make an appearance.

Unfortunately, even before the airing of the first episode, the actor ruled out the possibility of a return. However, he made sure to wish the new team the best of luck.

At the time, the reboot’s showrunner, Martin Gero, confided that he didn’t want to give in to the rejection. “I have a very, very good idea that I shared with Deborah (Pratt) and Don (Bellisario).“, he told our colleagues Collider.

“I think it could be a lot of fun. But I also respect his choice. He knows our passion for Him. He knows our enthusiasm, our love and our respect for the old series. I’ll call his managers just enough to make them feel like I want him on the show, but not so much that they think it’s harassment. We all want that to happen, but we respect and honor her choice,– he concluded.

And we must believe that, unfortunately, he did not succeed, or simply did not have time to convince him. Code Quantum was indeed canceled after only two seasons. On February 24, NBC aired the final episode of the sci-fi series without Scott Bakula appearing.
