Rated (only) 3.2 out of 5, this is a slightly unloved installment in the James Bond saga…

In 2006, James Bond revealed to the fans of the successful saga his completely new face, the face of a man darker and more lonely than Sean Connery or Pierce Brosnan: Daniel Craig. And just two years after the success of Casino Royale, the blue-eyed Brit’s new on-screen Agent 007 is back for a high-stakes mission in Quantum Of Solace.

The film was released in cinemas in 2008 and is directed by Marc Forster (who we especially credit with World War Z and The Worst Neighbor in the World) Quantum Of Solace Focuses on Bond’s hunt for whoever made Vesper (Eve Green) betray him.

In his battle, he crosses paths with Camille Montes (played by Olga Kurylenko), also thirsty for revenge. She leads him to Dominique Green (played by Mathieu Amalric), a ruthless businessman and one of the pillars of a mysterious organization.

Caught in a maze of betrayal and murder as he closes in on the real person responsible for Vesper’s betrayal, James Bond must stay ahead of the CIA, terrorists and even M to foil Greene’s evil plan. A great race against the clock that will take him to Austria, Italy, then South America.

Is James Bond really the worst?

And the least we can say is that after the great success of Casino Royale (3,154,245 receptions in France, an honorable rating of 4 out of 5, as well as 14 nominations, including 2 festival prizes), this sequel was eagerly awaited by fans. Saga. And unfortunately, it will disappoint in more ways than one!

Because however Quantum Of Solace Beating its predecessor at the domestic box office (with 3,700,000 releases), the reviews were much harsher. The press gave it an average of 3 out of 5, and the audience gave it a 3.2 out of 5.

And the comments are not more positive. Among the most negative ones we can read: “The film doesn’t feel like the franchise’s standards, so much so that at times you really wonder if you’re dealing with James Bond or a run-of-the-mill spy movie.”, “Entertainment could be enjoyable if we didn’t end up feeling this nagging sense of emptiness”, or otherwise “With the modernization, James Bond is certainly opening up to a new audience, but he’s suddenly losing his soul.” And you, what do you think?
