In the new film, ‘Aqui’, the actor ages over the years with the help of artificial intelligence
Tom Hanks reflected on his character in Aqui, a new film by Robert Zemeckis. In a podcast interview Conan O’Brien Needs a Friendhe revealed his impressions of watching himself age in the feature film with the help of artificial intelligence.
“I saw enough of that, and seeing myself at that age finally resolved a question for me, which is: it explains why I didn’t have sex”, joked the actor. “I mean, I had a lot of energy and I was loud. And, you know… I could make them laugh,” he added.

Imagem Filmes released, last Tuesday, the 29th, the first trailer for the film, which marks the director’s reunion with Tom Hanks and Robin Wright since they worked together on Forrest Gump: The Storyteller (1994).
The novelty is based on graphic novel namesake of Richard McGuire and tells a story that takes place in a single location across the centuries. During the 104 minutes of film, the camera is fixed in one spot, never moving, and viewers are introduced to the lives of everyone who has passed through that location.
On the podcast, Hanks explained that technology was used that combined data from his image with “all existing photographs” of the actor.
“We had two monitors while we were filming,” he explained. “One monitor showed us how we really looked, and the other, with just a few nanoseconds of delay, showed us with deepfake technology. So, on a monitor, I’m a 67-year-old man pretending to be in high school. And on the other monitor, I’m 17.”
Here is scheduled to hit Brazilian cinemas on January 16, 2025. Watch the trailer:
