The actress reveals her parents’ reaction to the sexual abuse she suffered in the past. Tata Werneck breaks down in tears and says she would do ‘anything to survive’
Known for making audiences laugh, Tata Werneck surprised Lady Night viewers when she couldn’t hold back her tears. The host of the Multishow program spoke about the sexual abuse she suffered in the past, as well as revealing how her parents reacted when they learned of the crime committed against her: “If I had to do something to survive, I would“.
Last Monday (4), Tata Werneck received Débora Falabella in attraction. The actress, who still stages the show Prima Facie in São Paulo, explained in more detail the show, which tells the story of the suffering of a victim of sexual violence. The young woman in question is fighting to demonstrate in court the abuse committed against her.
“I went to see your play and was very impressed. I was moved all over the world, because it is a show that talks about a very serious topic. It’s a topic that no woman has faced or has a friend who has faced.“, admitted Tata Werneck.
“It’s a play about sexual violence. It tells the story of a criminal lawyer who has taken on many sexual assault cases, is sexually assaulted, and finds herself on the other side as a witness and victim. You follow that character’s life through all of that and understand how this legal system is run by men. That’s why women get screwed so much, right? The woman is a victim, but is judged as if she were guilty. People keep discrediting her all the time, making her relive everything she experienced, they call it revictimization. He must talk, talk about the violence he experienced, he experienced it continuously. The way women are judged in cases of sexual violence is very cruel“, underlined Débora Falabella.
The host of Lady Night took the opportunity to recall her parents’ reaction not only to the theater show starring the actress, but to the sexual abuse she herself suffered in the past: “I went to see this show with my parents. They remembered that moment, because I never talked about it because I’m afraid to talk about it. They remembered when I was suffering from something serious and the questions I was asked were always disturbing or discrediting“.
“Sorry guys, I lost control here. Discredit as if you are not telling the truth. [Perguntava:] “What was it like?” What was he using? But were you like that? Why don’t you agree? Why didn’t you call the police? Because I was afraid. I was desperate“, he concluded.
“Of course, and we may not even remember things much, because we are going through trauma at the time“, underlined Débora Falabella. “I remember thinking like this: “I need to survive.” If I had to do something to survive, I would do it (…) A few years have passed, but I’m afraid to speak (…) This comedy deserves to be seen. Débora is brilliant, the piece is fundamental. It must be assisted by women, parents, men, representatives of public authorities. It must be watched by the whole world“, added the presenter.
On social media the public was moved by the statements of the comedian, who for the first time spoke openly on the topic. Although he did not provide details about the crime, Tata has received support from numerous friends and famous fans.
