In his new and final? – The film, Juror #2, Clint Eastwood, 94, is interested in the American judicial system through the story of Justin (Nicholas Hoult), who is called as a juror in a trial after the death of a young woman. Problem: The hero is convinced that he is the cause of the accident.
At the end of the film, the victim’s boyfriend was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison without parole. The prosecutor in charge of the trial (Toni Collette) realizes that Justin is the real culprit. He goes to her house. A man opens the door and two people meet without saying a word. This is where the story ends for the audience, all suspense and mystery.
Don’t over-explain, the Eastwood method
We can imagine what will happen next in several ways: Will he go to the police? Will the innocent sent to prison be freed? Will there be a new trial or will the prosecutor defend Justin?

Different versions of the scene
The actor says that the scene was shot in different ways: “One scene was just Toni Collette, another scene showed two police officers surrounding her, and another with a police car in the background. But the most mysterious ending is the one that works best.“
The key for Nicholas Hoult was to play the character as if it were still possible that he had just hit a deer on the road and that his presence that evening was a coincidence. “Like everyone, there’s always that little glimmer of hope in this type of scenario that helps you sleep at night.”he continues.
In the rest of the interview, the actor finally reveals that a very important scene was cut from the editing. In this sequence, his character goes to the police. Upon reaching the police station, he panics and finally decides to leave.
