Coming to theaters in 2021 and directed by Anne Fontaine (to whom we owe Coco Avant Chanel), the feature tells the story of the 23rd President of the Republic’s struggle to (re)gain his name in a humorous tone. A place at the forefront of the political scene. But to achieve this, he needs an ally: François Hollande.
To embody the character of Nicolas on the screen, the Luxembourg filmmaker focused on an actor who needs no introduction, Jean Dujardin, and the role of François is played by Grégoire Gabedois. In the casting we also note the presence of Doria Tillier, Pascal Arbilot, Jean-Michel Lahm and Denis Podalides.

In the interview given in connection with the release of the feature film, the actor particularly revealed: “It’s not a biopic at all. It’s certainly not my desire to do an impersonation of Sarkozy, that would be too embarrassing for the film, for the people and especially for me! As I was able to do with OSS, it’s a form. A diversion.”
Thus, avoiding the copy-and-paste trap, Jean Dujardin and Grigor dared (who gives an excellent performance on screen) delivers a human comedy that is as funny as it is disturbing and a satire of the political world. Extraordinary and unique!
Tonight on France 2 at 22:50.
