The European Union Parliament approved this Thursday (14th) the postponement of at least one year of the entry into force of the Anti-Deforestation Law, criticized by the Brazilian government.
The extension of the deadline received 371 votes in favor and 240 against, as well as 30 abstentions, accepting a proposal made by the European Commission, the bloc’s executive, in early October.
The Anti-Deforestation Law was scheduled to come into force at the end of 2024, but it will only come into force for large companies on December 30, 2025 and for small and medium-sized enterprises on June 30, 2026. .
