Released in cinemas in 1989, three years after the successful first part, this great entertainment masterpiece continues the crazy adventures of Marty and the Doctor. During the first jump, the young man made several mistakes. The future he has planned for himself is not so rosy, and his offspring have fallen under the thumb of thug Griff Tannen (Thomas F. Wilson), who wants to rule the city.
With his loyal sidekick and his fiancee Jennifer (played by Elizabeth Shue) in the company, Marty must travel to the future to try to give more morals to his successor. A journey with dramatic consequences…
Always successful
Like Back to the Future 1, which is rated 4.5 out of 5 on AlloCiné, this second part also caused a strong sensation when it was released in theaters. In France, it ranked third at the box office in 1989 with 2,992,497 releases, and worldwide it grossed a total of $331 million (with a production cost of $40 million).
And this great success is reflected in the reviews! Internet users rated it 4.3 out of 5, and festivals received it very warmly. Back to the Future II It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects and won in the same category at the 1990 BAFTA.
