Catarinenses wins 2-1 With this, Bugre will no longer leave the bottom of the Second Division. Both will play Serie C in 2025
This Sunday morning (17/11), Brusque and Guarani faced each other in the 37th day of the Serie B of the Brazilian Championship, at the Augusto Bauer Stadium, in Brusque, Santa Catarina. The match was characterized by a limited audience (824 paying and only R$ 18,090.00 in revenue) and ended with a 2-1 victory for the home team, with goals from Rodolfo Potiguar and Diego Mathias. Porfírio, in injury time, scored for the Sao Paulo team.
With this result Guarani remains with 32 points, ensuring that he remains in last position, in 20th place. Brusque, however, reaches 36 points. The Santa Catarina team is three points behind CRB, the first team out of Z-4, and even if they manage to match Alagoas’ 39 points, they will lose based on the number of victories. Therefore, he is also already relegated.
Brusque was coming off five consecutive defeats and hadn’t scored a goal in four games. Guarani, in turn, suffered his fourth failure in five matches.
First half: Brusco on attack
Playing at home and against the bottom team in the competition, it didn’t take long for Brusque to take the lead. In the 7th minute Rodolfo Potiguar made a beautiful shot from outside the area, almost from midfield, following a corner from goalkeeper Fred Conte, opening the scoring for the Santa Catarina team. After conceding the goal, Guarani launched the attack with more intensity, creating a few chances to equalize. However, the visitors missed good opportunities, with a shot from Luan Dias grazing the post and another from Cauio Dantas, saved by Matheus Nogueira. At the end of the first half Guarani had 62% of ball possession and 11 shots, compared to Brusque’s 3. Even so, the partial victory appeared to the home team.
Second half: Guarani presses, but misses another
In the second half, Guarani continued to press, but was met with fine saves from goalkeeper Matheus Nogueira. At 23′ Brusque extends the lead. Diego Tavares, on the left, makes an excellent pass to his teammate, Rodolfo Potiguar, who crosses to Diego Mathias, who, inside the six yard box, only had the task of pushing the ball into the back of the net, making it 2 – 0. The score remained almost until the referee’s final whistle. After all, in injury time, Porfírio scored for Guarani.
