Angelia Jolie in a French movie! After Jodie Foster (currently shooting in France for Rebecca Zlotowski’s Private Life), there’s yet another American actress who will appeal to French cinematographers.
Angelina Jolie will play the lead role in Coutures (Stitches for English title). Filmed in English and French, this film takes place in the world of fashion in the middle of Fashion Week in Paris. Coutures follows a trio of women whose fates intersect at fashion week. Like advertising DiversityFilming is expected to begin in early 2025.
Director Alice Winokur has already directed 4 feature films including Proxima with Eva Green and most recently Revoir Paris with Virgin Efira. This new film is being handled by CG Cinema (Charles Gilbert) and Pathé for production and distribution. The release date is not yet known.
It will be recalled that Angelina Jolie has already filmed in France for the film she directed herself, Vue sur mer, in 2015, partly with French actors, including Melanie Laurent and Melville Pupa.
Angelina Jolie returns to Paris after Maria!
For Angelina Jolie, it will be a reunion with the city of Paris shortly after filming there for the Maria Callas biopic, which focuses on the end of her life in the 1970s.
Maria, the final installment in director Pablo Larraín’s biography trilogy, was presented in competition at the Venice Film Festival. Angelina Jolie was recognized there and has since become one of the favorite actresses in the US for the awards season, along with the Oscars. The actor was already awarded in 2000 for his performance in James Mangold’s Stolen Life. In France, Maria will be released in cinemas on February 12, 2025. Watch the trailer above.
