The duplex penthouse, worth R$9 million, is located in an exclusive neighborhood of Maceió and was omitted from the 2022 asset declaration
The Alagoas Labor Court ruled on seizure of a luxury property belonging to the former president Fernando Collor de Mello. This is a beachfront duplex penthouse, with 600 m² of private space, located in the Jatiúca neighborhood, one of the most popular regions of Maceió.

The decision, signed by judge Thais Costa Gondim, of the 6th Labor Court, aims to guarantee the payment of a work debt of R$ 264 thousand towards a former employee of TV Mar, a television broadcaster that is part of the Arnon Organization de Mello, a company of which Collor is the majority shareholder.
According to a judicial valuation, the property is worth R$9 million and includes five bedrooms, a swimming pool, a bar and five parking spaces. The seizure was carried out on October 30, and the former president’s defense was notified on November 14, with time until the 25th to appeal.

The attic was used as the official residence of Collor and his family, as well as serving as the address for legal notices. However, the former president has begun residing in Sao Paulo and the property has been unoccupied for months, a factor that contributed to the court’s decision to seize it.
The property, purchased in 2006 through direct negotiation with the construction company, was not registered with a notary at the time, but only with a sales contract. In 2023, the Revenue Agency regularized the ownership of the property in Collor’s name through a precautionary measure.
Although the apartment was declared to the Electoral Court in 2018, with a declared value of R$1.8 million, it was omitted from the financial statements presented in 2022, when Collor ran for the government of Alagoas through the PTB.
Work debts
In addition to the duplex penthouse in Maceió, another case concerns the seizure of a farm located in Campos do Jordão (SP).
In October, judge Sérgio Roberto de Mello Queiroz, of the 5th Labor Court of Maceió, ordered the seizure of the property worth R$10.5 million, intended to be auctioned to pay off a debt residual amount of R$410.6 thousand with a former employee of the Gazeta de Comunicação group, belonging to the Collor family.
Furthermore, in July this year, the former president’s wife, Caroline Collor, had R$476,000 blocked from her accounts to compensate a former employee of the family who had been awaiting payment since 2019.
