The Chinese greentech will bring another version of the Song hybrid SUV to Brazil, now with the Seal “face” and positioned in a premium way
Summary
BYD will bring another Song to the Brazilian market, this time a more premium version, with a different and even more powerful design, for those who like more aggressive performance
After the success of the Song Plus – one of the best-selling plug-in hybrid cars in Brazil and in the world -, BYD decided to bring the Song Pro to the country, which abroad was the first generation of the model called Song.
It worked. Month after month, the “Songs” duo sold an average of more than 1,000 units each and grew the company’s numbers even more. If it worked once, it makes sense to expand the strategy further, right? That’s right: starting from December BYD will bring a new song to the market: Song Plus Premium.
How is Song Plus Premium
The Song Plus Premium will sit above the Song Plus we know, a plug-in hybrid that combines a 1.5 naturally aspirated engine with an electric motor that, together, deliver 235 hp and 40.8 kgfm of torque. The maximum autonomy announced by the company is 1,200 kilometers.
The Song Plus Premium will initially have a 1.5 turbo petrol engine and all-wheel drive, the same package already used by Shark here.
But in the Song Plus Premium the promise is over 300 HP. In Europe this SUV has 319 horsepower and is called Seal U: despite the bodywork inherited from the Song, the design is inspired by the blue sedan from the Ocean line.
Having said that, it becomes clearer to understand the market positioning of the new SUV: to attract customers who today see models such as the Haval H6 GT PHEV34 and also vehicles from more premium brands, such as the Audi Q3 and Q5 Sportback, Volvo XC60 and BMW the others.
Therefore, we bet that Song Plus Premium will cost between R $ 260,000 and R $ 300,000.
If the car that arrives here has the same data as the one exported from China to Europe, the performance is surprising: from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds. Now, if you follow the numbers of the Middle East version, the data is impressive: 360 HP and 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds.
