After declaring, without providing evidence, that she had received a financial compensation proposal to support Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) in the 2022 presidential elections, singer Jordana Menezes, who uses the stage name “Jojo Todynho”, may having to answer in court on the accusation. This is what the Brasil da Esperança Coalition promises, according to the advisors of the party federation, made up of the Communist Party of Brazil (PCdoB), the Workers’ Party (PT) and the Green Party (PV).
In an interview released this Monday 25th to the YouTube channel of the Brasil Paralelo platform, the singer declared, without evidence, that she had received a proposal of R$ 1.5 million to declare support for Lula in the 2022 elections.
“They called, they scheduled a lunch, they said it was a job and when I got there that was it… They offered me R$1.5 million to campaign when Lula ran for president… And I said, ‘Sorry guys, that’s not going to happen,'” Jojo said.
The national president and federal deputy of the PT, Gleisi Hoffmann (PR), classified the statement as a “blatant lie” and promised legal representation against the singer. “You will have to answer for this,” the PT member said. According to the federation’s press office, a civil lawsuit for compensation for damages will be filed against the singer.
According to the parliamentarian, the issue was discussed by “far-right networks” to divert attention from the prosecution of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and 36 other people for attempted coup.
In addition to the former president, the list of 37 indicted by the PF contains names that were part of the high level of the previous federal administration, such as Walter Braga Netto (Defense and Civil Home), Anderson Torres (Justice) and Augusto Heleno (GSI) , in addition to Bolsonaro’s trusted allies, such as Valdemar Costa Neto, national president of the PL, and Filipe Martins, his former international advisor.
Last Tuesday, the rapporteur of the case, Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Court (STF), forwarded the investigation files to the General Prosecutor’s Office (PGR) and suspended the secrecy of the document.
