A year and a half after Oppenheimer, the biopic about the father of the atomic bomb that won 7 Oscars, Christopher Nolan is in full gear to cast his new feature film. Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson and Charlize Theron are already participating in the project.

Unification after Oppenheimer

Today, Daniel Richtman (m CBM) confirms that the director still has an important role to play and that he wants to work again with Robert Downey Jr., after his excellent performance in Oppenheimer, which also won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. Information which is still unconfirmed and which, therefore, should be taken conditionally.

If this were to happen, the director’s new film – about which we still know nothing, as usual with Nolan – would mark the reunion of Robert Downey Jr. and Matt Damon after Oppenheimer, but also in the film of the interpreter of Iron Man. Tom Holland, aka Spider-Man.

Blocked Avengers?

The two actors are also set to meet soon on the set of Avengers: Judgment Day, as Robert Downey Jr. has signed a lucrative deal with Marvel to return not as a hero, but as an antagonist. He will definitely be playing Doctor Doom, one of Marvel’s most iconic super villains.

And indeed, this return to Marvel could put the brakes on the 59-year-old actor’s participation in Nolan’s film, as filming will have to overlap a bit. Avengers: Judgment Day Production will begin next spring for a May 1, 2026 release, while the film is set to shoot Christopher Nolan It has been announced for the beginning of the year in several European countries, and the release is planned for July 15, 2026.
