With a somewhat misleading national title, “Terrifier – The Beginning” is an anthology of horror films. With the original title of “All Hallows’ Eve”, the film is directed by Damien Leone.
The film features three short films that are shown in the plot on a VHS cassette found by a nanny caring for two children during Halloween. All the stories revolve around the killer clown Art the Clown.
Despite featuring Art the Clown, the film is not considered part of the “All Hallows’ Eve” series. Furthermore, although the Brazilian title suggests that the film tells the story of Art’s origins, this does not happen.
A sequel, “All Hallows’ Eve 2,” was released in 2015.
With a modest budget, “Terrifier” received mixed critical reception, but gained attention with its villain, Art the Clown.
The plot follows two friends who on Halloween night come across a strange boy dressed as a clown (David Howard Thornton). However, this clown turns out to be a sadistic and brutal killer, claiming a series of victims.
From that moment on, one of the friends and, later, the sister become targets of the ruthless killer. Directed by Damien Leone.
With widespread positive critical reception and great commercial success, “Terrifier 2” took the franchise to another level. Damien Leone returns to direct with a significantly larger budget than his predecessor.
In the storyline, Art the Clown (David Howard Thornton) returns and begins stalking teenager Sienna Shaw (Lauren LaVera) on Halloween night.
Art the Clown returns in “Terrifier 3” on Christmas Eve, once again pursuing Sienna Shaw, who is trying to rebuild her life. Directed by Damien Leone, “Terrifier 3” was a huge critical and commercial success.
