This Friday (06), Conmebol announced the selection of the best players for the 2024 Libertadores champion after beating Atlético-MG in the final, held on November 30 in Buenos Aires, where Botafogo dominates the list with eight players.
The representatives of Alvinegro Rio are: goalkeeper John, defender Barboza, left back Alex Telles, midfielder Marlon Freitas, midfielder Thiago Almada and forwards Savarino, Luiz Henrique and Igor Jesus. There is an error in the list and the Juventus goalkeeper appears as an Atlético athlete.
In fact, the team is completed by right back Fabricio Bustos, from River Plate, wild card Battaglia, from Atlético-MG, and midfielder Leonardo Fernandez, from Peñarol. The latter played for Fluminense last season and was part of the Tricolore Carioca team that won the tournament in 2023.

However, after the Libertadores title, Botafogo can, this Sunday (08), win the Brazilian championship. A draw with Sao Paulo, at the Nilton Santos Stadium, is enough to avoid having to rely on a stumble by Palmeiras, second in the table. Subsequently they will play the Intercontinental Cup and, if they beat Pachuca and Al Ahly, they will face Real Madrid in the final.
