With goals from Gabi Inácio, Bianca, Carla and Joana, Internacional beat Botafogo 4-2 and secured passage to the next phase of the competition
In a match valid for the quarterfinals of the Women’s Cup, Internacional faced Botafogo, Sunday evening (8), at CERET, in Sao Paulo. With goals from Gabi Inácio, Bianca, Carla and Joana, the Gurias Coloradas secured 4-2 on the scoreboard and qualified for the semi-finals of the competition.
THE GAME
To secure their place in the next stage, Internacional needed to prevail against Botafogo and dominate the match. After just 9 minutes, Gabi Inácio received a pass from Analiyza and covered the goalkeeper, opening the scoring for Gurias Coloradas.
Without losing pace, in the 29th minute Internacional reached the goal again. Bianca, taking advantage of the space in the area, finishes and finds the net by extending. At a disadvantage, Botafogo doesn’t give up on scoring. In the 36th minute of the first phase, Isa Cabral scored Alvinegro’s first goal, reducing the difference on the scoreboard.
Looking for a reaction in the second half, Botafogo equalized in the 61st minute. Debinha, Baby, filled the nets and left everything the same. Despite the more offensive attitude, the Rio team did not slow down Internacional’s attack and suffered the setback.
To close the score, defender Carla, with a header, scored Gurias Coloradas’ third goal, in the 93rd minute. Still in injury time, in the 94th minute, it was Joana’s turn to score and give Inter qualification to the Copinha semi-final.
CAMPAIGN IN COPINHA
Botafogo concludes its participation in Copinha 2024 with two victories and two defeats. The team finished the first phase in first place in their group, but was eliminated in the quarter-finals of the competition. With the victory in the duel, Internacional reaches the semi-finals undefeated, with four victories in the entire tournament.
