Jay-Z calls rape allegations ‘stupid’ and part of ‘extortion attempt’

Rapper responds to lawsuit that also accuses Sean “Diddy” Combs of participating in an alleged crime against a minor in 2000

Jay-Z’s response to the accusations

Jay-Z has classified as “absurd” rape allegations involving a 13-year-old girl, filed in a case reopened this Sunday (12/8) in New York. The rapper, whose real name is Shawn Carter, used his company Roc Nation’s account on the X Network to say the allegations are part of an “extortion attempt.”

In a lengthy post, Beyoncé’s husband said: “These allegations are so serious that I implore you to file criminal charges, not civil charges. Anyone who commits such a crime against a minor should be in prison, don’t you agree?” These alleged victims deserve real justice if this is true.”

He added: “Only your network of conspiracy theorists will believe these idiotic claims, which, were it not for the severity of the crimes against children, would be laughable.”

Process details

The lawsuit was originally filed in October in the Southern District of New York against Sean “Diddy” Combs, but was renewed to include Jay-Z this Sunday. According to attorney Tony Buzbee, who represents the plaintiff, the victim – identified only as “Jane Doe” – was allegedly abused by Combs and Carter during a party following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards.

According to the complaint, the victim was approached by a limousine driver, who claimed to work for Combs, and taken to a party where he had to sign a document he believed was a nondisclosure agreement. There, she said she was given a drink that left her “dizzy and needing to lie down.” The lawsuit claims that in a bedroom, Carter took off her clothes and raped her while Combs and another celebrity watched. The celebrity would be Jay-Z, this weekend’s amendment added. The document also accuses Combs of raping the victim while Jay-Z watched.

Jay-Z and Tony Buzbee trade accusations

Jay-Z has claimed that including his name in the lawsuit is part of a scheme to obtain money. “This blackmail attempt has had the opposite effect to what was expected. I will not give you a cent! I am determined to expose you in a very public way for the fraud that you are,” he said.

For his part, attorney Tony Buzbee posted on Instagram that he has received threats since he began representing victims in several cases against Combs. He wrote: “I will not be intimidated. The attempt to discredit me and my clients will be exposed. The truth will come out.”

Sean Combs situation

Combs, who already faces nearly 20 civil lawsuits and criminal charges of sex abuse and trafficking, is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in New York. His trial will begin on May 5, 2025.
