Originally, John Wick would be a 75-year-old man before Keanu Reevescurrently 57 years old, to be chosen to shine in the role of the action franchise, according to information from NME.
Basil Iwanykproducer of the franchise, discussed the protagonist’s origins in the book titled They Shouldn’t Have Killed His Dog: The Complete Uncensored Ass-Kicking Oral History of John Wick, Gun Fu, and the New Age of Action.
“One of my best friends is Charlie Ferrarogives United Talent Agencywho sent me this script of Derek Kolstad called scorn,” remembered iwanyk. “The protagonist was a 75-year-old man, 25 years after retiring.”
It would be fun to watch Clint Eastwood rocking I thought, ‘Okay, there’s probably a name or two you could do this with: Clint Eastwood or Harrison Ford.’
In addition, the producer explained how Keanu Reeves got the role in place of a more veteran actor: “My other best friend in the world, this guy Jimmy Darmodyis an agent of CAAwhich at the time represented Keanu. And he said, ‘Do you have any action movies for Keanu Reeves?'”
“I remember thinking to myself, ‘Keanu is one of the big action stars of the last 25 years – what happened to him? What he is doing?’ And he directed the film himself, The Tai Chi Man (2013), and also worked in 47 Ronin (2013),” continued Basil Iwanyk. “We gave him the script, and we were like, ‘Clearly, you’re not 75.’
John Wick 4: Actress praises Keanu Reeves humility in filming

In an interview with Subway, Sawayama talked about the support of Reeves during the intense filming of John Wick 4. The actress also recalled the actor’s professionalism, and said how he was always around to encourage her during the production, which she physically demanded of each one.
“Keanu it’s quite humble. He’s really down to earth and someone so easygoing and lovely – great to hang out with like he’s a family member,” the artist stated. “My favorite memory is seeing him while training at the same gym and being like, ‘F**k! *yourself!’ That was one of my favorites – [treinar] it was so brutal!”
“I loved sharing that moment with him; we were both like, ‘This is awful,'” he continued. Rina Sawayama. “But I can’t compare it to what he did, because [Keanu Reeves] it’s in the whole movie and I’m in just one part. I don’t know how he does it – he does all the stunts himself [sem dublê]!”
