Dwayne Johnson reunites with the director of Jumanji: Just a month after its theatrical release, the film is coming to Prime Video later this year.

Released in US theaters a month ago, Red One is now available to stream. The action film starring Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans will not be released in French cinemas, but directly on the Amazon Prime Video platform, co-produced by the feature film.

An action film aimed at the general public, Red One stars North Pole security agent Callum Drift (Dwayne Johnson) as he teams up with bounty hunter Jack O’Malley (Chris Evans) in a series of adventures trying to save the end of the year celebrations. Santa Claus is played by JK Simmons.

The film is directed by Jake Kasdan, director of the new Jumanji, from a script by Chris Morgan (The Fast and the Furious saga). The idea for a feature film comes from the desire to combine the spirit of Christmas with modern blockbuster codes. Despite initial promise, the film’s release in the United States was not a success.

Collecting only $34 million in its opening weekend (on a roughly $250 million budget), Red One is off to one of the weakest starts of Dwayne Johnson’s recent career. Therefore its distribution on SVOD could offer a second life to the film, provided word of mouth is favorable.

The film Red One can be seen from December 12 exclusively on Prime Video.
