After giving us the shivers with Vermine Spiders, French filmmaker Sébastien Wanicek and Florent Bernard, his co-writer (already working on Vermines ), are back at the helm of the iconic horror movie, Evil Dead.
The young director posted a cover photo of his film’s script on his Instagram account, revealing the title and year of release. The new feature film of the cult franchise, which was started in 1981 by Sam Raimi, will be called Evil Dead Burn and will be released in 2026.

When the project was announced, we spoke to Sebastien Vanicek, who told us that he wanted to make this film with his team: “Those with whom I shot my short films. I take these people with me, and it’s normal, because thanks to them I created myself..”
French hero?
Casting and plot are still under wraps. Last February, the director told us that his main character would be French.“At the moment, I have a main character who is French in the United States. So I want to use our French talent for the main role in the film. Especially not to go into details, because I can’t, it is important in the script that he is a foreigner…”
Sebastian Vanicek and Florent Bernard was working Sam RaimiMe and Bruce Campbell, the interpreter of ashes in the first parts, on the mythology of the evil dead. The director added to our microphone:“We’re in the middle of a discussion about the books. It’s very interesting because no one really agrees on how many Necronomicons there are, or how long it’s been around. Because no one knows what Fede Alvarez’s movie really is. Is it a remake, a new movie, does the series come into play? ?…

It’s a world that feels like the first movies to me: a happy mess. It’s funny and what comes out of all this is that we have even more freedom. This is not a square. So far, things are going so well that the message is: “Do whatever you want.” So with Flo, we’re really establishing our characters in that world. And then there will always be time for more serious discussions around the world they’ve built.”
Ten months after that meeting, the script was finished. Filming will begin in 2025 and will be announced in 2026.
The film follows Lee Cronin’s Evil Dead Rise, which was released in 2023. A seventh Evil Dead feature film is also in the works, written and directed by Francis Gallup. For reference, in April 2023, Bruce Campbell said on the microphone AV Club that the studio will expand the Saga universe through several standalone films revolving around the books.
