Mexican Cruz do Azul is interested in the Uruguayan striker, but Verdão already has an agreement with Orlando City and is confident in the conclusion of the deal
Palmeiras has gained a contender in the fight for Uruguayan striker Facundo Torres. On Thursday (12), the Uruguayan press reported that the Mexican Cruz Azul would be interested in signing the Orlando City player. However, the Sao Paulo club is the favorite to close the deal.
Verdão already has an agreement with the Florida club, which is willing to maintain the agreement. The final decision will be up to Facundo. Palmeiras is aware of the interest of the Mexican club, but has not yet received any indication that the Uruguayan has opted for Cruz Azul and is working to close the deal.
In an interview with Radio 890, from Uruguay, the entrepreneur Edgardo “Chino” Lasalvia, one of the player’s agents, made public the competition from the Mexican club and considers Cruz Azul the favorite to sign Facundo.
“Brazil has a very important problem with the dollar. Cruz Azul, at all times, wanted this, he raised the values and the coach called him. This brings them closer,” he said in an interview with Uruguayan radio.
The businessman expects to close the sale at around $14 million. Palmeiras’ deal with Orlando City is worth $12 million, which would be the largest sale in the history of the North American club. The 24-year-old striker plays as a winger on both flanks, but prefers to play on the right. Facundo is from Peñarol, a club he left in 2022, to go to MLS. In the same year he was called up to defend Celeste at the 2022 World Cup.
