Iran will not prevent access to and inspection of its facilities by the United Nations nuclear watchdog, the head of the country’s Atomic Energy Organization said on Saturday.
According to an International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) report released earlier this week, Iran has agreed to stricter monitoring by the agency at its Fordow facility after significantly accelerating the ‘enrichment of uranium to weapon-like levels.
Last week, the IAEA reported that Iran had multiplied the rate of its enrichment to 60% purity, close to 90% weapons grade, at Fordow.
“We have not and will not create any obstacles to the agency’s inspections and access,” Atomic Energy Organization head Mohammad Eslami told Iranian media.
“We operate within the framework of safeguards and the agency also acts in accordance with the regulations, no more, no less,” he added.
